CDA(S) In the News – Safety Lapses and Diving Fatality 2

Dear Industry Members,

Diving fatality in Singapore

The Commercial Diving Association (Singapore) has been notified on a workplace incident where a commercial diver had passed away on June 18, 2024. This is the second fatality for the industry this year.

The facts to the case have yet to be fully established and the relevant Authorities and CDAS are currently conducting investigations. Findings of which will be shared in due course.

The Company involved in the incident is Dive-Marine Services Pte Ltd, who is a member of the Association. The Company’s membership with the Association has been suspended with immediate effect pending the outcome of investigations and a review by the Association.

The Association strongly urges all members of the Association and of the industry to adhere strictly safety regulations and guidelines when carrying out diving operations. Should investigations reveal any breaches to such regulations and guidelines, financial penalties and even imprisonment sentences will be meted out.
